From Pro Show Ltd:- DESPITE poor weather over 8,000 people attended Liscard Alive '97 - the free pop festival held in Central Park, Wallasey. The start of the event was delayed by an hour whilst we made the difficult decision to continue in light of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Our decision was strengthened by the attendance of Mrs Karen Cooper whose son Robbie was tragically killed in Wallasey only last week. Mrs Cooper said: "My son was looking forward to the event and I am sure he would have wanted it to go ahead. Diana also loved concerts and this was a fitting tribute to her and Robbie'. more...

Michael James Sherry arrived in England from Ireland about 1898 and was registered as a Grocer at 118 St Pauls Road, Poulton-cum-Seacombe. He took over the Revenue Hotel at 30 Demesne Street (where my father and uncles were born). Later he was landlord of the Canada Hotel at number 82-84 Old Bidston Road, Birkenhead, in 1904. After that he became landlord of the Marine Hotel in Seacombe until 1913. He emigrated to America that year. more...
