Birkenhead Letters

Heartfelt thanks

MY heartfelt thanks to a dear lady called 'Twink' who took me to Mill Lane Walk-in Centre when I fell in Reeds Lane, Moreton. Thanks, too, to staff at the centre.  more...

Plea to women who helped our daughter

I HOPE that the kind mother and daughter who drove my own daughter home on Boxing Day night, at about 12.30pm, read this - I would like to thank them personally as we do not know what would have happened if they hadn't helped her . . .  more...

It's apalling . . .

AS an ex-military man, I find it appalling that Wirral Council could treat the Warship Preservation Trust this way. There is precious little left of WWII history - and what is, it is being destroyed, all in the name of greed.  more...

Disgraceful . . .

I ALSO think it's a disgrace about the removal and closing of the Historic Warships exhibition. This is a part of our heritage which should come before the needs of the money-grabbing property developers wanting to make a quick quid re-developing areas with no thought of the consequences.  more...

We must find a new 'home' for them

I READ with dismay of Wirral Warship Preservaton Trust's decision to place itself into voluntary liquidation.  more...

Use lottery cash to keep warships afloat

Faith in humanity

MY faith in humanity has been restored thanks to the overwhelming help my mum received from school children, neighbours and kind people, including a policewoman, who stopped their cars and went to her aid after she fell on Brimstage Road, Bebington.  more...

Children before dogs, please!

I WAS flabbergasted with Sylvia Lloyd's comments ('Sad parent', Mailbox, January 25).  more...

Over-reaction

WAS the dog growling? Was it barking? We are not told this and I for one feel the dog was either curious or over-friendly - I doubt very much if it was 'hunting'! The person writing seems to know little about dogs, so although I sympathise with any distress he/she was caused, I feel there was overreaction due to lack of understanding.  more...

Pathetic

NEVER have I read a more idiotic and pathetic letter regarding a dog that was in a playful mood. Your correspondent should see a 'shrink' because they certainly want their head examined.  more...

Witness call

DO any Globe readers remember the blue and white UFO-shaped submarine that was moored in Birkenhead Docks in the early 1980s?  more...
